Washington DC. Restoring Honour 8/28
Would Martin Luther King have backed Glenn Beck today?
Glenn pulled this day together and produced a moving and positive assertion that despite differences across religions, cultures and races, Americas best lies before us, but that unity amongst Americans can only be achieved by working with God. If we make our personal choices and are accountable to ourselves, our brothers, our sisters and make decisions based on honour, faith, with hope and charity, we WILL succeed. The message and spirit of Martin Luther King was shared today – and applauded, standing, laughing, and with tears – by many hundreds of thousands of Americans. That’s who King backed in 1963, and that’s who he would have backed today. Us. He would have backed *us*, all Americans, in an ongoing and universal fight for equality driven by our own personal choices and our own personal integrity.

And on a more critical note re Rev Al’s ridiculous action: If Al Sharpton had any credibility at all, he would have started to do 40 years ago what the contributors to Restoring Honour, and what Beck himself, are doing now. Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, and that whole group of crooks took what MLK said, saw the power that he had, and corralled that power to keep African Americans oppressed, poor and under-represented in order that they themselves could maintain their own positions of power. They *are* the restrictions that African Americans have to overcome.
